Now in its 12th year, SCO is dedicated to bringing the magic of opera to audiences. The company performs prestigious concerts throughout the year and stages a full opera in the autumn. We offer a rare opportunity for singers, especially students and graduates, to enjoy and gain experience of an operatic repertoire.
An informal audition is all that’s required to join our friendly company. We would love to welcome you, especially contraltos and male singers. Chorus singing is generally in four part harmony. Though sight reading is an advantage, you willfind yourself supported by expert instruction.
Rehearsals are held weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7.30-10.00 at Wesley Hall Methodist Hall Crookes, Sheffield, S10 1UD. Members also get together at social events and parties.
Yearly membership costs £55, payable in two amounts and a weekly rehearsal charge of £2.00. To assist with these costs students can apply for support.
