Enjoy two opera favourites in one evening. Expect magic in spades thanks to a little clever staging and costume. Sparkle on the quarterdeck of HMS Pinafore with salty tunes such as ‘We Sail the Ocean Blue’ and ‘A British Tar’. Keep a lookout too, for Buttercup’ and ‘He is an Englishman’.
SCO’s double concert bill also includes Mascagni’s beautiful one act opera ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’. It’s Easter day. Feel the sun as Sicillian peasants sing happy songs of Spring. Meanwhile hearts are breaking. Let SCO soloists and chorus break yours too, with their exquisite interpretation of the climactic ‘Easter Hymn’.
