Concerts Cuts and Sits

Cuts

  1. Opening 7 bars of prelude are in but then cut to the L’istesso tempo 3/4 on page 3.
  2. Still prelude…. at the end of Turiddu’s last Ah! (page 6) jump to the last 3 bars of the scene on page 9.
  3. Opening chorus scene, first 9 bars are in (piano only Pete) then cut to the ff 8 bars before the first chorus entrance (page 12 schirmer score).
  4. Then there is another cut from towards the end of page 12 to the very end bar of page 13 but I will have to explain that.
  5. Scene and arrival of Alfio….end of the 12th bar cut to two whole bars before Santuzza’s entrance.
  6. Possible small cut (page 100) before Santuzza and Alfio duetto.again I will explain that one.
  7. Scene chorus and Brindisi……opening cut up to the poco meno (page 115).

Chorus stand and sits.

  1. Stand before opening chorus (Gavin to dictate)
  2. Sit at end of Regina Coeli scene in orchestra close (page 69) (member of chorus at front to lead)
  3. Stand before opening of Chorus Brindisi (page 115) (Gavin to dictate)
  4. Sit on page 132 after alto and soprano line (chorus member to lead)
  5. Stand on page 144 in loud orchestra moment before the Allegro kicks in (chorus member to lead)

Organisation Arrangements for CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA / HMS PINAFORE Concert

 

1.LOCATION

The parish church of St.Peter and St.Oswald  is situated on the junction of Bannerdale Road and Abbeydale Road in Millhouses, approximately five miles from Sheffield city centre. It stands on the right of Abbeydale Road on the city side of the village.

 

2. CAR PARKING AND TRANSPORT

The church has a small car park alongside the Parish Hall. There is also on-road parking in the Bannerdale Road area. However, members of the audience are advised to consider parking  either at Holt House Infants school in Bannerdale Road, or at the Tesco store further along Abbeydale Road, which also serves as  a Park and Ride area.

Buses nos.85 and 97 from the city centre stop nearby.

 

3. CHANGING AND TOILET FACILITIES.

Changing facilities will be located in the Crypt (ladies) and the Lady Chapel (gentlemen).

Toilet facilities are situated at the rear of the church, in the Crypt and in the adjacent  Parish Hall.

 

4. ARRIVAL AND ACCESS.

All performers should arrive for rehearsal at 13.30. There will be a break no later than 16.30  for refreshments (please bring your own if not returning home). All performers involved in Cavalleria Rusticana must return at 19.00  in time to change before the performance.

It would be appreciated if able-bodied performers could assist with arrangement and replacement of chairs before the afternoon rehearsal and after the performance.

 

5. DRESS CODE.

Costume as previously advised. All hired items must be returned to Joan Howarth immediately after the performance.

 

7. TICKET SALES

Tickets are priced at £10.00 and £8.00 (concessions) and will be available on the door.

 

8. CHARITY COLLECTION

An exit collection for the Philippines Emergency Appeal will be held at the conclusion of the concert.

Carmen Auditions

Sheffield City Opera & Sheffield Symphony Orchestra are joining together to produce a fantastic concert of Carmen.

This concert will feature a full sized orchestra – a rare treat as this hardly ever happens outside of productions at the great opera houses.

We are looking for exceptional principals to join us in this one off exceptional concert on Saturday 29th March 2014.

About the Auditions

Sheffield City Opera is a charity based organisation and our primary focus is giving singers experience with high end opera in a supportive environment.  Please check our terms before applying for the auditions.

  • This will be a one off concert on the 29th March 2014 in Sheffield
  • The opera will be sung in English.
  • You will need to be available for the rehearsal times which will be run every Wednesday from Jan – Mar 2014.
  • The opera society is based in Sheffield and all rehearsals will be in Sheffield.
  • Sheffield City Opera is a charity and does not offer payment for the role but may cover some small expenses.
  • We reserve the right to rescind a part if attendance at rehearsals is poor.
