Falling In Love

A concert for Valentine’s Day

This concert features some of the greatest love-moments in opera and musical theatre – the rhapsodic love theme from Tchaikovsky’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’; the passionate ‘Habanera’ from George Bizet’s ‘Carmen’; the love-bombing duet from Puccini’s ‘La Boheme’. Plus we have favourites from musical theatre – the unforgettable songs of Gershwin, Rogers and Hart, Cole Porter and Leonard Bernstein.

There’s also fun and froth galore in Donizetti’s ‘Elixir of Love’ – a world of True Romance comics. The fun continues with the Catalogue Song from Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni’ as a servant runs through a list of his master’s conquests as long as your arm.

It’s music to fall in love with.

Wanted: Artistic Director for Cinderella Opera

Cinderella

Sheffield City Opera is looking for an artistic director for our production of Jules Massenet’s Cinderella next May.

We are looking for a person that match as closely to the following criteria:-

  • Experience staging full operas in a theatre.
  • Prepared to work with an amateur company and have ideas on how to create an exciting production on a limited budget
  • Live locally in Sheffield and be prepared to organise and take rehearsals from Jan – May next year

Ideally we are looking for someone who wishes to gain more experience with opera production and can “bed-in” with the company for its duration. Due to limited funds we would not be able to pay for this undertaking, but could provide some expenses.

If you are interested please email info@sheffieldcityopera.com with your name and supporting information for the role. Entries should be received before 30th November 2014, and we will make a decision on the role by the end of December 2014.

Thank you.
